This is a good article, but the the key component for me was wearing gloves. Once I discovered the gloves, my Bernina 440 worked like a dream. Gloves with rubber dots on the palms help to grip the quilt and move it more easily, more smoothly. Go to a hardware store to purchase these garden gloves, as they are much less expensive as gardening gloves than as quilting gloves! Go figure!
Some people suggest a glass of wine to relax beforehand. I haven’t actually tried this, surprisingly, but this technique sounds fun! I am sure this will be in my future.
